General Experience

I became an accredited indexer in 1994 and now have over 30 years of professional indexing experience covering a variety of social science subjects. I index mainly academic texts but anything considered. I have a Combined Studies BA in Sociology and Psychology and MA in Women’s Studies and particularly enjoy indexing books relating to gender, social policy, health and social care, communications and media among other subjects. Available all year round.

Subjects

Gender Studies

I particularly enjoy indexing this subject. I have a long-standing interest in Gender Studies and a Masters degree in Women’s Studies. Commissions in this field have covered North Korean women defectors, women in educational leadership, migrant women’s experiences of maternity care, women in the military and a trans history of Argentina.

Social Sciences (All Areas)

Having studied sociology, psychology, health studies and gender at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and having indexed diverse areas of social science over the years, I am comfortable with indexing most areas of the social sciences. Commissions have included gender studies, LGBTQI+ studies, social policy, equality, sociology, human geography, research methods, media studies, cultural studies, health and social care, social psychology, criminology, business and management.

Sociology

Sociology formed a large part of my degree studies and I have indexed many sociology texts over the years in the form of monographs, multi-authored works, text books and study guides. Commissions in this field have included race and policing, spatial inequality, gender and military, youth violence, philanthropy, family formation, digital sociologies, migration and research methods.

Social Policy

I have indexed many Social Policy books in recent years, commissions in this field cover race and policing, education, youth violence, social care, health activism, offender management, social justice and transport policy.

Equality

I have indexed a variety of books in this subject area covering gender, race, disability, class and sexuality.

Media Studies

I have indexed a variety of books in this subject over the years from communication theory to Desert Island Discs.

Psychiatry/Psychology

I studied cognitive, developmental and social psychology as part of my BA degree and have indexed books in most areas of psychology and psychotherapy over the years in the form of monographs, multi-authored works, text books and study guides. I particularly enjoy indexing social psychology texts.
