General Experience

I specialise in indexing arts and humanities subjects, including English literature, history, art history, visual arts and classical studies. I also have experience of indexing social science subjects and am happy to index a broad range of subjects aimed at a general readership.

Before becoming a professional indexer I worked as a library cataloguer at the British Museum and at the University of London, cataloguing subjects including art history, literature, social history, ancient history and archaeology. I have a BA in English and an MA in Librarianship.

I am available for indexing work throughout the year, often at short notice.

Subjects

English Literature

First degree in English.

Art History

Experience of working with art history texts across a wide range of historical periods.

History (All Areas)

Including ancient history, social history and local history.

Classical Studies

Experience of working with texts relating to ancient Greece and Rome. A Level qualifications in Latin and Ancient Greek.

Heritage

I have experience of indexing material relating to the heritage sector and have an ongoing interest in this area.

English (Works About)

Experience of indexing general readership material about the English language. Interested in the history of the English language and in English usage.

Information Management

I have a postgraduate degree in Librarianship and a background in information management.

Art and Design

Personal interest particularly in drawing and printmaking.

Music

Experience of indexing material across a variety of musical genres.

Social Sciences (All Areas)

Experience of indexing social science material in areas including criminology, cultural studies and sustainability studies.
