General Experience

I am a Fellow and advanced professional member of the Society of Indexers and have been indexing professionally since accreditation in 2011. After graduating with an honours degree in English Literature I worked as an analyst/programmer for a life assurance company, where I was an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, having passed the exams in the early 1990s. Alongside this I ran an evening class once a week teaching basic English and maths to adults.

Although my particular areas of interest are linguistics, literature and history, I enjoy indexing books in other disciplines within the fields of the humanities and social sciences and have indexed books in subjects as diverse as politics, journalism, sociology, geography, philosophy, education, business and psychotherapy.

I have been involved with the SI training course for a number of years as a member of the Training Course Committee and currently hold the office of Training Director on the society’s Executive Board.
