General Experience
Freelance indexer for more than 30 years (also translator from German), after several years of in-house editorial work for London publishers. Subjects of books recently indexed have included Stendhal on art, late performance art and revolution, and fantasy fiction. Good knowledge of German, French and Italian. Available for work throughout the year, often at short notice.

Translation
Translator from German in arts and humanities field. Member of the Translators Association (part of the Society of Authors). Since 1991 I have translated a wide range of texts, from book and exhibition reviews to full-length books, including biographies and memoirs. Would love the opportunity to translate fiction! My interest in diaries and letters, particularly of literary figures, is related to my enjoyment of biographies and memoirs. Have indexed,for example, the letters of Paul Cezanne for Thames & Hudson.
Have indexed a number of biographies and memoirs, including the memoirs of Mikhail Gorbachev and vols 2 and 3 of Charles Moore’s biography of Margaret Thatcher. I particularly enjoy indexing literary biographies and memoirs.
