General Experience

Physics graduate and professional librarian with career background in
engineering information, IT systems development and project
management. 25 years indexing experience, originally in the
engineering industry, and after going freelance in 2002 in new
technologies, architecture, building and construction, environmental
design and health science. Particular interest in sustainable building
design and heritage conservation. Have always met deadlines and taken
a flexible approach to meeting clients’ requirements. Happy to work
remotely with email and pdf file transfers. Will take on both large and
small projects, and will endeavor to accommodate work at short notice.

Recent examples include Intermediate Building Contract Guide (RIBA), Buildings in Extreme Environments – Cold Climates (CIBSE), Construction Management and Organisational Behaviour (Wiley). For English Heritage I indexed the multi-volume series, Practical Building Conservation.

Urban Development

I have a particular interest in this topic and have indexed, for example, The Art of Building a Garden City (RIBA for the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA), Remaking Post-Industrial Cities (Donald K. Carter, Ed.), Urban Planning’s Philosophical Entanglements
