General Experience

I qualified as an indexer in 1998, after gaining a BA degree in Political Science and an MA degree in International Relations (both University of Amsterdam), being a research student at the London School of Economics and working as a consultant in development cooperation. I index both in English and Dutch and mainly books aimed at an academic readership. In 2014 I completed the UC Berkeley Extension Course on embedded indexing and indexing of e-books (now extinct).

International Relations

MA degree in International Relations and have indexed numerous books on International Relations.

Middle East

I did a minor in modern history of the Middle East while studying for my MA degree. I have indexed books on countries such as Sudan, Egypt, Jordan, Oman and Israel.

International Law

During BA studies in Political Science, I did a minor in International Law. Since many years I index the Netherlands Yearbook of International Law and the Yearbook of Humanitarian Law (both are Asser Press publications)

Politics

BA degree in Political Science and have indexed many titles in this field.

Embedded Indexing
I have completed the UC Berkeley Extension course on embedded indexing (now extinct). Embedded indexing experience mainly with Word embedded indexing, using Index Manager software for maximum control of the embedded indexing process.

Large Projects

I have undertaken several few large, multi-volume projects, such as the History of Communism series (Cambridge University Press) and the Encyclopedia of Jews in the Islamic World (Brill), which was a team-indexing project and won the Wheatley Medal 2011 for an outstanding index.
