General Experience

Many years’ experience at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) University of London, as African Studies Librarian, Faculty Librarian for Law and Social Sciences and Head of Teaching and Research Support.

Academic qualifications in South Asian history (BA Hons) and African Area Studies (MA) plus knowledge of Middle Eastern history (especially Turkish, including Turkish language). 

“Highly Commended” in 2012 Betty Moys Prize – awarded annually to an outstanding trainee on completing the SI training course (no outright award in 2012).

Mainly index scholarly books covering African and Asian subjects in the humanities and social sciences.

Work to date includes

  • South-East Asia (Tongan bibliography, Indonesian film and gender studies)
  • Film studies (India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico)
  • Middle Eastern/Central Asian history and travel
