General Experience
My first degree was a B.Sc. in Behavioural Science, specialising in psychology, economics, sociology and statistical methods. From this I developed an interest and expertise in the field of Information Science, and spent several years cataloguing in the Mitchell Library, Glasgow. I took a short career break to bring up a family, then retrained with a Masters in Information Technology. I worked as an IT manager for the University of Glasgow for 15 years, developing and implementing I.T. strategy and systems, and gained an M.B.A. during this period. Circumstances then facilitated an opportunity to pursue a career change, and I studied with the Society of Indexers to become an accredited indexer, later becoming an advanced professional member.
