General Experience
I have a degree in Archaeological Science which covered subjects from textile conservation to forensics and paleopathology. My work history has included the information management of printed music and play scripts, historical photographs, ephemera and archaeological site records. I am a council member and Lecture Secretary of my local historical society, and music coordinator and Justice & Peace officer for my church. I have also consulted for educational organisation, Think Forensic. I have indexed a range of subjects for a general and academic readership including biography, literature and religious studies.
I can usually take work at short notice and am available during school holidays.
Subjects
I have an Archaeological Sciences BSc(hons) degree, which included study in paleopathology, forensic and biomolecular archaeology and conservation. I worked on the Sites & Monuments Records for the National Trust and on the ‘Twixt Aire and Calder’ online project for Wakefield Council, becoming familiar with industrial archaeology cataloguing. I am a council member of Wakefield Historical Society, whose lecture series also covers a range of archaeological topics.
10 years’ experience in a music and drama library cataloguing and handling queries on a range of sheet music and text books, including orchestral and choral, popular music and performance theory. Many years’ experience of church music ministry organisation and performance.
Experience of a range of subjects including modern and classical plays, screenplays, pantomimes, Shakespeare and works in translation, also performance and staging theory, history and biography.
I have a working familiarity with a range of literature, including cataloguing classic and modern works of drama and dramatic theory, and indexing works on 19th century novels and poetry. I have an interest in graphic novels and genre books, and the academic study of works that are not usually subject to analysis.
I have indexed books on Christianity, including biographies, Christianity’s relationship to science and pacifism. I have many years’ experience of organising church music and Justice & Peace ministries and have helped organise a church library.
I have studied history and archaeological sciences, covering topics from Roman Britain to the History of Technology and have some field experience of excavation and landscape archaeology in Yorkshire. I have worked on the ‘Twixt Aire and Calder’ online project for Wakefield Council and am Lecture Secretary of my local historical society, which holds talks on a wide range of local and national historical topics and organises participation in outreach events. Being a long-time member of Amnesty International I have an interest in Human Rights, globally and nationally. I act as Justice and Peace Officer for my church, communicating ideas about social issues and their effect on individuals. I have indexed books on Pacifism, religious persecution, the ethics of collecting data on refugees, and liberal Islam.
My background in Archaeological Science and my current experience of being on the committee of Wakefield Historical Society enable me to index social history in an informed way. I have indexed books on the Dissenting tradition in the North of England, 18th century adventurer-artists and the history of mining.
